School Board
The Board is accountable for the school’s operations and performance from a governance position. The day to day management of the school is delegated to the Principal. The Board’s responsibilities are strategic leadership and ensuring the school meets legislative requirements and regulatory responsibilities as required by the Education and Training Act 2020 and other legislation. Key areas for the Board are student achievement, setting and monitoring policies, the employment of staff, financial management and ensuring the school is a safe environment for students and staff. As a state integrated special character school, the Board is also responsible for ensuring that our Christian character is upheld in all aspects of the school’s operations.
The Board consists of the Principal, one staff representative, five parent elected members and two Proprietor Appointees. The Board also has a secretary for minute taking. The five parents members were elected by the school community in September 2022 for a three year term. The staff representative was elected in July 2024. The next Board elections are in September 2025.
The Board meets most months (excluding school holidays) in the Whānau Room and all parents are most welcome to attend these meetings. It is important to note that visitors do not have automatic speaking rights during the meetings. Should you have wish to raise an issue with the Board please contact the Presiding Member, bot.chair@nca.school.nz prior to the meeting. You can also check the Board’s Concerns and Complaints policy for procedural advice.
Copies of the Board’s meeting minutes are available from the school’s office and can also be found online. Please contact the Presiding Member for access if you wish to view them.
